New Additions

Good morning! Today is actually my birthday, so I am a little extra happy. 🙂

I have lots of fun things planned with the Reg and my family (most of which involve food!). But before I go, I wanted to give you a preview of some of the new pieces that I am adding to my etsy store next week…

Hair Accessories featuring vintage beads and colorful flowers on antique bronze hair pins.

Dainty post earrings featuring more of those beautiful vintage beads. These are really tiny (a little smaller than a dime) and made with Sterling Silver.

Both the lockets and the cabochons shown here are vintage and are going to look perfect on a long, thin gold chain.

I am thrilled with how they look. Truly, I would love to wear each piece.

Okay now it is off to celebrate turning the big 2-6. Maybe I will bring this back?

A Bob Dylan Kind of Day

Some other things I am loving today:

Mama Pea got a book deal! If you haven’t checked out her blog, please do. She is hilarious, a great mom to 2 beautiful girls, and an amazing vegan cook!

Anthropologie’s collaboration with Nathalie Lete!

Cynthia Vincent for Target Gladiator Wedges–so comfortable I wore them all day at Disneyland!

The Buttermilk Truck in LA. They are coming to my town on Saturday and I fully intend on waking up early to be the first one in line. Holla!

I am not going to lie. I am an Apple fangirl. For example, when I opened my fortune cookie from lunch the other day and it proclaimed that I would soon receive an unusual gift, I immediately thought “Please be an iPad, please be an iPad.” Now you may be thinking that is not unusual, per se, but my husband laughs hysterically every time I claim I am going to buy one so yes, receiving one would be quite unusual. 😉

To distract myself from my early adopting Apple addiction (that was some fun alliteration), I have become quite addicted to Words with Friends. Over the weekend, my college roommate Melissa came to visit. She is a pretty epic Words with Friends player so we decided to spend our lazy Saturday playing the OG version of Words with Friends (Scrabble), drinking several bottles of wine, eating our body weight in cheese, and grabbing dinner at one of my favorite spots in the South Bay. Twas the perfect day.

As a joke, we call each other our lobsters because of a certain Friends episode.

“It’s a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. You know what, you can actually see old lobster couples walkin’ around their tank, ya know, holding claws.”

(Phoebe, Friends, Episode 2.14)

Delicious Blue Cheese Haystack from Simmzy’s in Manhattan Beach.

My handsome husband.

Peach Sangria=heaven!

Great times with my best friends.

I paused for a moment this weekend and looked around at my life. I am so lucky for all of the wonderful positive people that surround me on a day to day basis. I joke about my desire to purchase a silly material possession but really the things that matter the most to me are the people in my life. They give me the strength to make it through the days when I am filled with doubt and fear.

I am incredibly lucky.

Thanks for being my biggest fans. I love you all.

New Chapter

So, recently I left my full-time job with an amazing company. I have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience at lululemon but it was simply time for me to move on focus on my jewelry and my family. I learned so much about the life I wanted to live and they gave me the tools to live that life every day, albeit away from the company but not without their blessing. How cool is that?!

Anyway, today was my first full day away from my old job and it felt odd but mostly exciting. I feel a certain freedom to pursue my goals but also miss the people I work with immensely already. To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in my life, today was filled with some fun activities…

-Traveling to the Jewelry District to pick up some jewelry making supplies for a class I am taking at UCLA

-Target run to get some essentials (I heart Target a lot)

-Photographed some new jewels for my etsy  store

Made (& devoured) an amazing spinach, bacon, goat cheese salad with balsamic fig dressing

and LOST is on tonight!

I have to go to bed early tonight too–I teach a 6:15 AM barre physique class!

Good night friends!

Open for Business

I recently opened a shop on etsy after dreaming about it for a long time. I have always had an interest in jewelry making, helping my aunt design the earrings for my jewelry. For earring and wedding pictures, click here. Best. day. ever.

A little background story on how I got here. I went to college in Fort Collins, Colorado (Go Rams!) where I met Reggie (my husband). I loved every minute of my time there and met my best friends there. I studied Speech Communication and quickly discovered that I wanted to continue my education and work towards a Master’s degree in Communication. However, after receiving my Master’s degree and teaching for 3 years, I made the decision that teaching was not something I wanted to do at that point. I wanted to experience something else.  Reggie and I were married the following May and I took some time to think about what I really wanted for a career. At this point, I felt pretty defeated because I had worked so hard in my competitive Master’s program and did well but something was just missing.

I started working retail for a yoga apparel company that I respected and felt like a place I could grow and have the space to explore my passions. They inspired me to set goals and that I did. Be careful what you wish for. I wanted to learn how to make jewelry because I had so many design ideas floating in my head. So after lots of reading and online education (ahem, YouTube), I taught myself how to put things together. I am also enrolled in a class at UCLA for Handmade Jewelry so I can continue to refine my skills. I love making jewelry. It is truly my passion. Hello, I Love You is a jewelry line that meshes my two loves (other than the Hubs)–yoga and music. Each piece is named after a song but also inspired by my yoga practice. Okay enough talking. Here are some of my first pieces that are for sale. What do you think?

Wish You Were Here

Hello, I Love You

Welcome friends! I used to say that I wouldn’t start a blog until I could find the perfect name. Now, looking back, the name seemed so obvious. I am someone who believes in the beauty and power of love. Probably cheesy and naive but in my experience it certainly doesn’t hurt. Think about it– if everything we did in life came from a place of love, how much better would the world be?

I am a 25 year old jewelry maker/photography enthusiast/trivia nut/(sometimes) healthy foodie/yogi living in Southern California with my new husband, Reggie. Think of Hello, I Love You as your local coffee shop. Somewhere we can chat about things that are important (and the not so important) and celebrate the beautiful things in life.
